Un tapir es un animal originario de Sudamérica y de Asia. Se trata de un mamífero que forma parte de la familia de los tapíridos y del orden que componen los perisodáctilos (en el que encontramos a las especies que tienen una cantidad impar de dedos, los cuales finalizan en pezuñas).
